4 Weekly Live Virtual Events: Starts Wed 02 Sept at 7:30pm (BST)
LIVE EVENT: 02-23 Sept | Weds, 7:30pm (GMT)
Architects, escape the tender trap, close your Profit Gap and charge what you’re worth
Stop designing for exposure alone. Many principal architects undercharge, not because they lack skill, but because fees do not reflect the value of their thinking.
The Design for Money Bootcamp is a live, four-week sprint cohort for chartered architects ready to escape the ‘busy but broke’ cycle and regain commercial control of their practice.
Every Wednesday at 7:30pm (BST) from 2nd Sept:
- One-to-one Profit Gap diagnostic included
- Four live, recorded sessions with Daniel Patterson
- Rework a real proposal during the bootcamp
- Direct peer feedback on your work
- Four commercial frameworks you keep and apply

OVERVIEW
You’re not alone.
Most architecture practices are not struggling because they lack talent. They are struggling because their fees do not reflect the value of their thinking.
You spend years developing creative intelligence that most clients cannot access without you. Yet the way most practices price their work, write proposals and position themselves commercially means that intellectual property is routinely given away, or worse, undersold to win work that barely covers costs.
The Design for Money Bootcamp is four weeks of live, structured work with a focused cohort of principal architects and practice owners. It is not a course on generic business principles. It is a diagnostic and implementation sprint built around one specific question: where is your practice leaking profit, and what do you do about it?
This is for you if:
- You are a principal architect or practice owner (ideally with three or more staff)
- Your practice turns over work but does not turn over enough profit
- You suspect you are undercharging but are not sure where to start
- You are ready to shift from overworked technician to commercially confident leader
This is NOT for you if:
- You are looking for more project leads
- Your practice is not yet billing regularly
- You aren’t prepared to do 1-2 hours of work between sessions
OUTCOMES
What You Leave With.
These are not just lessons. They are outcomes.
Four things you will have by the time we finish.
- Your Profit Gap, in Pounds
- One Real, Reworked Proposal
- One Active Profit Leak, Closed
- One Growth Lever, with a 30-day Plan
Your Profit Gap, in Pounds
Before Week 2 starts, you will know the exact size of your Profit Gap. A specific number, tied to your practice, your turnover and your current structure.
Between Week 1 and Week 2, you will have a private 20-minute diagnostic with Daniel, identifying where the gap is concentrated and which areas are most recoverable. Most principals have never had an independent commercial assessment of their practice.
Once the gap has a number on it, every proposal, every scope conversation and every fee discussion becomes a different kind of decision.
Based on every principal we’ve talked to over the past year, the average across UK architecture practices is 23.2% of annual revenue. If your practice turns over £350,000, you could be leaving around £81,200 per year behind. Lost quietly, across every project.
One real, reworked proposal
Not a proposal you intend to reprice at some point. A real proposal, with a real client, restructured and sent before Week 3 begins.
Most pricing conversations stop at the understanding stage. Week 2 is designed to break that habit. You will take a live proposal, restructure it using value-based principles and put it in front of a client. You will see directly how that conversation changes.
A single fee restructured from hourly to value-based on a £15,000 project typically recovers £3,000 to £5,000 in additional margin. Done once, it becomes the way every proposal is built afterwards.
One Active Profit Leak, Closed
Not identified. Not added to a list of things to fix eventually. Closed.
A variation that has not been raised. A scope clause absorbing overruns quietly. A client delay pattern eating into fee without consequence. There is at least one of these active in your practice right now. In Week 3, you will find it, address it and close it. The immediate return is often worth several times the cost of this bootcamp. The longer-term return is a practice that stops absorbing margin it has already earned.
One Growth lever, with a 30-day plan
Not a list of options to think about. One lever. The single highest-impact action available to your practice right now, with a written plan to begin it within 30 days of finishing.
A referral process that does not yet exist. A revenue stream that has sat on the list for two years. A positioning decision that has never quite been resolved. Whatever it is for your practice, you will leave Week 4 knowing exactly what it is and how to start.

SYLLABUS
What’s Inside the Sessions.
Four weeks. Four live sessions. Four action outputs.
Week 1: The Profit Gap
Wednesday 2nd September at 7:30pm (BST)
What it is costing you to keep doing what you are doing. A structured diagnostic session that challenges the conventions of architectural pricing and sets the commercial foundation for the weeks ahead. You will identify your Profit Gap before the session ends.
Action output: Complete your Profit Gap assessment and identify one immediate change worth a minimum of £1,500.
Between Session 1 - 2: One-to-One Diagnostic
3rd-9th September – you select the time
After the first session is complete, you will be invited to a 20-30 minute one-to-one call with Daniel for a personalised, independent review of your market position along with a Profit Gap diagnostic specific to your practice showcasing real monetary value you are missing out on.
Week 2: Design for Money
Wednesday 9th September at 7:30pm (BST)
The pricing principles that change the commercial dynamic. How to shift from time-based to value-based pricing, how to write proposals that communicate creative value, and how to test a new pricing approach on a real project this week.
Action output: Reprice a live or upcoming proposal. Trial it. Bring the result to Week 3.
Week 3: Stop the Leak
Wednesday 16th September at 7:30pm (BST)
Where practices lose margin without realising it. Scope creep, client friction, revision cycles, communication breakdown and the hidden costs most principals absorb in silence. Practical frameworks to protect your margin on every project going forward.
Action output: Identify your three biggest profit leaks and apply one fix immediately.
Week 4: Build the Upside
Wednesday 23rd September at 7:30pm (BST)
The commercial levers most practices ignore. Revenue streams, referral systems, delegation and strategic positioning. How to move from a practice that generates work to one that generates profit.
Action output: Leave with a commercial control plan and a clear decision about your next move.
What Attendees Are Saying
Don’t just take it from us, just look at the results previous masterclass attendees achieved.
£200k increase on a single project!
“I had no real strategy and had been winging it for years. This workshop helped me figure out what makes us different and how to better articulate our value.
Since then, I’ve changed how I pitch and price my services. I was about to send a £50k proposal, but after applying what I’d learned, the client agreed to a deal worth five times that, without me needing to hire anyone new.
I just wish I’d started sooner!”

“I left with a renewed confidence”
“Attending Daniel Patterson’s seminar on Business and Marketing Strategies for Architects was a game-changer.
Daniel’s insights were not only practical but tailored perfectly to the challenges we face in the architectural field. His approach blended strategic thinking with real-world application, making complex ideas feel actionable and inspiring.
I left with a clear roadmap, renewed confidence, and several ideas I’ve already started implementing.
Daniel’s passion and deep understanding of both architecture and business shone through the session. This seminar truly exceeded my expectations – an invaluable experience for any architect looking to grow their practice and stand out in a competitive market.
If I’m completely honest, having attended, I feel privileged to have knowledge from this seminar that others have missed out on!”

“Much needed clarity”
“I needed to get my pricing right.
Daniel’s easy-to-follow approach gave me ample time to review, understand the bigger picture and to leave the course with some practical tools to make confident changes.
Not only do I have new prices lined up but also I now have a brand new subscription offer launching as a direct result of this course.
I highly recommend this masterclass! Thank you Daniel for taking the stress out of pricing, offering some much needed clarity and enabling me to have a more rounded offering for my customers.”

“I’m no longer undercharging!”
“Informative with so much content in such a short space of time.
We learnt so many strategies which got us thinking outside of our comfort zone and it was good to interact with others in the group too.
It was helpful for me. togo back to basics and think about pricing options including the pricing calculation formula to calculate our correct minimum hourly rate.
Thanks Daniel, I’m no longer undercharging!
A great workshop and one I’d highly recommend to any and every business owner to re-evaluate their current business income stream and to see if it could be improved.”
